Varicocele is enlargement of the testicular veins (plexus pampiniformis) similar to varicose enlargement of vessels in the legs. It is seen in 30-45% of men evaluated for infertility, 45-81% of which with secondary infertility. Additionally, it is observed in around 15-22% of the normal population. It rarely causes testicular pain in patients. It is often detected incidentally during the evaluation of male factor infertility.
