Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to undergo gastric sleeve surgery in Turkey?
With government high-standard inspections in healthcare tourism, Turkey is considered a safe place to get gastric sleeve surgery.
Make sure to ask about the quality of the tools used in surgery and a clean environment while consulting.
What should you do if you experience complications after heading back to your country?
Your doctor will give you a paper about the details in surgery. In case of an emergency, you can go to the ER with that paper, so your ER doctor can point out what kind of issues you are dealing with.
You can also contact your own doctor whenever necessary.
Will you need any other surgeries after gastric sleeve?
If you stick to your recovery plan, chances are you won’t need any additional bariatric procedures. To help reduce the risk of saggy skin, it’s a great idea to follow a balanced diet and an exercise routine. Working with a personal trainer who has experience in weight loss for people with morbid obesity can make a big difference, too.
But, if you still notice loose skin, there are lifting procedures available to help you feel more comfortable in your own body.
Are there risks associated with gastric sleeve surgery?
Any surgery done under general anesthesia does come with some risks, though they’re usually minimal. These can include infection, bleeding, blood clots, or even issues like staple line leakage. To keep these risks low, it’s important to choose an experienced surgeon who works in a well-maintained, clean hospital.
Your surgeon will run some tests beforehand to ensure you’re a good candidate for the procedure and that everything goes smoothly.
Will I need follow-up care after surgery in Turkey?
Yes, follow-up care is important to monitor your recovery and ensure successful weight loss.
Many clinics won’t require you to return to Turkey for your check-ups. Instead, you can have follow-up consultations with your surgeon through video calls. They’ll make sure you have clear, detailed guidelines for your ongoing care.
